Do you feel like your space needs a facelift? Everything you’ve collected and really enjoy doesn’t seem to go together? One of our clients, Geri, had this dilemma and decided to hire us for a One Day Makeover!
It all started with a brief consultation at her condo so I could listen and understand the goals of the project. In our meeting I learned that Geri loves color, art, and eclectic treasures from traveling. She gave me a budget for shopping and I was off!
Conscience of Geri’s taste and knowledge of resources, I headed to the South end of town to HomeGoods, World Market, and Target. I decided to start at HomeGoods where I would find the most unique, inspirational things…then to World Market for cultural accents that would complement Geri’s treasures from traveling. At my first stop I found some fantastic pillows that would add color and playful pattern to her cream slipcovered sofa. Second stop…I found the perfect rug that complemented her vibrant geometric art piece for the Kitchen! Target is a great stop for budget friendly, everyday staples. Here I found red bath towels plus euros and a throw to accent and soften the bedding.
When it came time to install everything, Geri left me to it so I could suprise her! I went to her complex, loading all of the goodies and my toolbox in the elevator. It was so exciting to set everything up….this is the best part about being a Designer…seeing everything in place as planned!
I fluffed the pillows, laid the rugs, hung the art (some art had no hanging hardware, so I had to get creative) and scampered to leave before she arrived that afternoon. Back at the office, I awaited her call to get feedback.
Geri called, so elated I could almost hear her smiling. Making a few changes made a huge difference- and it all happened in ONE DAY!
Creating livable and beautiful environments is what our job is all about. However, the true reward comes when we get to know our Clients and the design reflects who they are…because that is when they are comfortable, happy, and satifisfied with their space.
